We are seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure & Network Engineer to join our AI and automotive systems end customer.
This role is responsible for designing, maintaining and evolving enterprise infrastructure, with a strong focus on Linux systems, networking, automation and operational excellence.
Working across both on-premises and cloud environments, you will deliver resilient, secure and scalable infrastructure supporting engineering, development and operational teams.
You will lead production changes, support critical incidents and drive infrastructure automation through Infrastructure as Code practices.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise in Linux, enterprise networking and infrastructure engineering.
You will work independently, collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams and play a key role in ensuring the reliability, security and performance of business-critical infrastructure underpinning AI development and automotive systems.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 8+ years' experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Network Engineering, Dev Ops or a closely related discipline.
- Extensive hands-on Linux systems administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of Linux command-line administration, package management and systemd.
- Deep understanding of Linux networking and production troubleshooting.
- Experience performing operating system upgrades across large Linux estates, ideally Ubuntu.
• Strong understanding of networking technologies including
- TCP/IP
- DNS
- DHCP
- Routing and Switching
- VLANs
- VPNs
- Firewalls
- Hands-on experience with enterprise networking platforms such as Juniper, Cisco, Mikro Tik and Uni Fi.
- Experience delivering live production network changes, upgrades and migrations.
- Strong knowledge of network security, including segmentation, 802.1X, RADIUS, PKI/certificate infrastructure and secure site-to-site connectivity.
- Strong scripting skills using Bash and/or Python.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Experience using Git and modern change management practices.
- Experience supporting hybrid on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced, highly technical environments.
- Calm, pragmatic and delivery-focused under pressure.
Desirable Skills & Experience Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
- Microsoft Azure or other public cloud platforms.
- Leading or backfilling senior network engineering responsibilities.
- Enterprise deployment of 802.1X, RADIUS and certificate infrastructure.
- Building network staging, lab or test environments.
- Developing CI pipelines for network configuration validation.
- Large-scale Juniper migration programmes.
- Terraform-based management of network devices including Mikro Tik.
- Multi-site enterprise networking environments.
- Hybrid cloud connectivity.
- Fleet-based infrastructure or large-scale data offloading platforms.
- AI, machine learning, robotics, mapping, autonomy or embodied AI environments.
- Professional networking certifications such as Cisco CCNP, Juniper JNCIS/JNCIP or equivalent.
This is an inside IR35 Contract role working via umbrella company so please only apply for this role if you are able to work on this basis.
You will be required onsite 3-4 days per week in Central London.
