I'm currently working with a leading Microsoft consultancy that is looking to strengthen its Pre-Sales team with the addition of an Azure Data Solutions Consultant. This is a highly technical, customer-facing position where you'll work alongside sales, architects and delivery teams to shape and design modern data platform solutions for enterprise clients. Importantly, this is a consultative pre-sales role with no individual sales targets or quotas attached; the focus is on providing technical expertise and helping customers define the right solution.

The Role:

  • Engage with customers to understand business and technical requirements.
  • Design and present Azure-based data and analytics solutions.
  • Lead technical workshops, demonstrations and discovery sessions.
  • Support RFPs, bids and proposal responses alongside commercial teams.
  • Work closely with architects and delivery teams to ensure proposed solutions are practical and scalable.
  • Stay up to date with developments across the Microsoft Data and AI ecosystem.

What They're Looking For:

  • Strong experience across the Microsoft Data stack, ideally including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Power BI and Azure Data Services.
  • Good understanding of modern data platform architecture, ETL/ELT and analytics solutions.
  • Experience delivering or designing Azure data solutions within a consultancy or enterprise environment.
  • Comfortable engaging with stakeholders and communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A genuine interest in helping customers solve business challenges through technology.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with AI, Data Governance or Lakehouse architectures.
  • Azure certifications or previous experience working within a Microsoft Partner environment.
  • Exposure to bid responses or technical solution presentations.

This role would suit someone who enjoys combining deep technical knowledge with customer interaction and wants to play a key role in shaping large-scale Azure Data and Analytics solutions. This is a genuinely unique opportunity to get involved in shaping and winning exciting projects without the pressure of sales targets. You'll stay at the forefront of the latest Azure Data and AI technologies, continuously developing your technical skills, while avoiding living out of a suitcase, bureaucracy and internal politics often associated with traditional consultancy roles.
