Integration Engineer – Incident Response (Contract)
London (Hybrid) | Full-Time
We’re looking for a contract Integration Engineer with strong Python development skills to join a fast-growing technology company as it scales its operations internationally. You’ll be hands-on in building and integrating complex incident management tooling, connecting multiple systems so that issues are flagged, escalated and reported quickly and reliably. This is a hands‑on engineering role, not a project management position, working directly in the code, configuration and workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Python integrations that connect incident management tooling with Jira, Slack, AI-driven platforms and other operational systems using APIs and webhooks.
- Implement and configure complex incident workflows, including alerting, escalation logic, paging, on-call rotas and notifications.
- Work with operational teams to understand their requirements and translate them into reliable technical configurations, defining what gets flagged immediately and how it is responded to.
- Build monitoring, audit trails and failure alerting to quickly identify broken integrations or incomplete workflows.
- Test integrations and workflows through simulations and controlled rollouts, applying strong change control throughout.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Safety, Legal and regional teams.
Required Skills:
- Strong commercial experience as a Python developer, building and maintaining integrations.
- Hands-on experience implementing complex incident management or operational tooling (e.g. incident.io, PagerDuty, Opsgenie, xMatters, FireHydrant or Jira Service Management).
- Deep experience integrating SaaS platforms using APIs and webhooks, particularly Jira and Slack.
- Experience designing alerting, on-call routing and escalation paths.
- Background in a safety-critical or regulated environment where incident reporting is essential, such as betting and gaming, banking, fintech or payments.
- Strong testing, documentation and change-control discipline.
- Experience with incident.io.
- Experience working in businesses where incidents carry significant financial or reputational impact.
- Experience supporting incident response across multiple countries.
