We are an applied AI lab building end-to-end software agents. We’re the makers of Devin, the first AI software engineer. Cognition is building collaborative AI teammates that enable engineers to focus on more interesting problems and empower engineering teams to strive for more ambitious goals. Our team is small and talent-dense. Among our founding team, we have world-class competitive programmers, former founders, and leaders from companies at the cutting edge of AI including Scale AI, Cursor, Waymo, Tesla, Lunchclub, Modal, Google DeepMind, and Nuro. Building Devin is just the first step—our hardest challenges still lie ahead. If you’re excited to solve some of the world’s biggest problems and build AI that can reason on real-world tasks, apply to join us.
About the Role
At Cognition, customers are our highest priority. Deployed Engineers (DEs) are customer-facing technical experts who help our customers maximize the value they get out of Devin. You'll lead all technical aspects of our pre-sales process, designing compelling product demos, executing pilots, and working closely with engineering organizations to identify and delegate the right use cases to Devin. Beyond initial engagement, you'll design and deliver ongoing training programs and enablement resources to help customers roll out Devin to thousands of engineers.
You’ll be successful in this role if you have a technical background – either studied computer science or have extensive experience leading highly technical sales engagements – and if you love building, and if you embody the drive and grit required to win in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment.
In this role, you will:
- Own all technical aspects of the customer lifecycle—from deployment through activation, making sure our customers are successful using Devin.
- Work closely with customers to understand their technical challenges and identify the best use cases for Devin to be a productive contributor.
- Build deep relationships with our customers’ engineering teams to ensure smooth product integration and adoption, activating top users and driving product utilization.
- Always listen to customer feedback, have a bias towards implementing requested features yourself, and advocate for the customers’ needs with the rest of the team.
- Exercise your product instincts to help set the roadmap.
Requirements for the role:
- Degree in a STEM field.
- Proven track record of successful enterprise deployments in previous GTM or forward deployed engineering roles.
- You’re a natural relationship-builder, an excellent communicator and feel comfortable talking about complex technical topics with customers in all roles and levels.
- Thrive in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments — you’re willing to move fast and quickly grow in scope and responsibility.
- You have a demonstrated exceptional ability to learn.
You might excel if you…
- have sold highly technical products.
- have worked as a software engineer previously.
- founded a startup.
- are a competitive, highly ambitious person who loves working in high-intensity environments.
- thrive in roles that require you to context switch quickly and handle a broad range of technical and non-technical problems.
