As part of a global operating model, Technology provides shared platforms, standards and capabilities that can be adopted consistently across all regions while allowing for local operational needs. The function is responsible for delivering the tools, systems and services that enable schools and regional teams to work effectively, securely and efficiently. Group Data, within Technology, is responsible for Cognita’s data platform, products, governance frameworks and emerging AI capabilities. The team defines global models, standards and reusable patterns and works closely with Centres of excellence, Cogs and Schools to support adoption, alignment and continuous improvement across the data lifecycle.

About the Role

Senior Integration Engineer to join our fantastic team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integration Design & Delivery
    • Design and build enterprise integrations using Azure services including Logic Apps, Azure Data Factory, Service Bus and API Management.
    • Deliver API, event‑driven, orchestration and batch integrations across core business and SaaS platforms.
    • Define integration standards, data models and resilient design patterns.
    • Lead technical design for complex, multi‑system integrations within Cognita’s Azure ecosystem.
    • Ensure integrations are scalable, secure, maintainable and operationally resilient.
    • Define and maintain integration engineering standards, reusable patterns and deployment approaches.
    • Review designs and code to ensure quality and alignment with architectural principles.
    • Maintain integration documentation, runbooks and service catalogue.
    • Lead technical governance and promote secure‑by‑design practices.
    • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code deployment processes.
  • Operational Ownership & Support
    • Monitor and support production integrations across a global estate of 100+ schools.
    • Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis and act as senior escalation point.
    • Drive improvements across platform performance, reliability, cost and supportability.
    • Manage secure configuration, secrets and access controls across the platform.
    • Lead and develop a geographically distributed team of integration engineers.
    • Provide technical guidance, peer review and engineering best practice.
    • Support resource planning and capability development across the function.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Expertise in Azure integration services (Logic Apps, ADF, Service Bus, APIM).
  • Strong knowledge of API‑led, event‑driven and distributed integration architectures.
  • Proficient in REST APIs, JSON, XML and integration design.
  • Experience with CI/CD, IaC and secure cloud integration practices.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
  • Integration, API, DevOps or cloud engineering certifications beneficial.

Experience

  • Proven delivery of enterprise integration solutions across multiple business domains.
  • Experience integrating SaaS platforms such as CRM, Finance, HR and MIS.
  • Background in large, complex organisations with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience leading engineering teams or technical functions.

This is a hybrid position, working 1‑2 days per week in our Central London office. The salary range is from £70–80,000 per annum depending on experience.
