We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Education Welfare Officer to support student wellbeing and pastoral care. You will work closely with staff, students, families and external agencies to contribute to a supportive school environment. The role encompasses proactive pastoral support and responsive intervention, ensuring vulnerable students and their families receive appropriate guidance and resources.
Responsibilities
- The EWO is instrumental in supporting 'The Well' – our dedicated student wellbeing and support centre – which provides a safe space for students to access help, guidance, and pastoral support.
- This includes supporting students with emotional wellbeing, managing complex family situations, liaising with external agencies, and ensuring safeguarding concerns are appropriately escalated and managed.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies.
- Ability to support vulnerable students and their families sensitively.
- Enhanced DBS, or eligibility to obtain.
- Experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting.
- Knowledge of pastoral care approaches, delivery of pastoral support programmes/workshops and support for student wellbeing.
- Understanding of child safeguarding and child protection practices.
