We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Education Welfare Officer to support student wellbeing and pastoral care. You will work closely with staff, students, families and external agencies to contribute to a supportive school environment. The role encompasses proactive pastoral support and responsive intervention, ensuring vulnerable students and their families receive appropriate guidance and resources.
ResponsibilitiesThe EWO is instrumental in supporting 'The Well' – our dedicated student wellbeing and support centre – which provides a safe space for students to access help, guidance, and pastoral support. This includes supporting students with emotional wellbeing, managing complex family situations, liaising with external agencies, and ensuring safeguarding concerns are appropriately escalated and managed.
Qualifications- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies.
- Ability to support vulnerable students and their families sensitively.
- Enhanced DBS, or eligibility to obtain.
- Experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting.
- Knowledge of pastoral care approaches, delivery of pastoral support programmes/workshops and support for student wellbeing.
- Understanding of child safeguarding and child protection practices.
