About the School
Breaside Preparatory School provides a rich learning environment for your son or daughter. Our curriculum will prepare your children for the senior schools of choice through a balanced and broadly based education, from their first days in Kindergarten through to the age of 11. We believe in getting the basics right and teaching the core subjects with a mixture of traditional teaching styles and modern approaches to learning. Coupled together with a strong work ethic and an enriching learning environment, we are confident that we help each child to develop towards their full potential.
About the Role
As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting a child with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) in Year 3 and beyond. Your focus will be on helping them access the curriculum, build communication skills, and grow socially and emotionally. You will work closely with the child both individually and within the classroom, adapting learning activities and monitoring their progress so they can reach their full potential. Your day-to-day work will involve providing structured support, encouraging positive interactions, promoting independence, and ensuring the child feels fully included in school life. You will collaborate closely with teaching staff, follow Primary Stage Curriculum expectations, and contribute observations and feedback that help shape the child’s learning journey. This is a fixed-term, part-time role, currently needed 5 mornings per week (8:45am - 12:30pm) during term-time. The contract is linked to the child’s individual needs and will continue for the period during which 1:1 support is required.
Who We Are Looking For
You are patient, empathetic, and genuinely motivated by helping children thrive. You bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, can remain calm under pressure, and work sensitively with children who have additional needs. You are confident supporting learning, adapting activities, and collaborating with teachers and the SENCo. You build positive relationships with pupils and staff, respond thoughtfully to challenges, and model professionalism at all times. With your supportive nature and commitment to helping every child succeed, you will make a meaningful difference in this rewarding role.
