I’m working exclusively with a residential developer to appoint a Technical Manager for a high-quality residential scheme in West Sussex. This is a rare opportunity to take on a hands‑on, site-based technical leadership role on a flagship development set within a sensitive landscape and heritage context. The scheme comprises a collection of high-specification apartments delivered across multiple buildings, combining contemporary architecture with a carefully considered setting.
Reporting into regional technical leadership, the role will sit at the centre of project delivery, taking ownership of complex technical packages and driving coordinated, buildable solutions through to completion.
The Role
As Technical Manager, you will lead the technical delivery of a major residential scheme, working closely with construction, commercial, design, and specialist subcontractors to ensure a well-coordinated and high-quality build. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and coordinating defined technical workstreams and subcontract packages.
- Driving technical approvals and resolving design queries to protect programme certainty.
- Overseeing the integration of contemporary architecture within a sensitive environmental or heritage-led context.
- Identifying technical risk early and proactively leading effective solutions.
- Acting as the principal technical point of contact on‑site for subcontractors and consultants.
- Providing clear, concise technical reporting and updates to senior leadership.
- Working collaboratively with project management, site, commercial, interiors, and H&S teams.
What They’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Technical Manager, or a Senior Technical Coordinator ready to step up.
- Strong background in large-scale residential delivery, ideally high-end or design-led schemes.
- Experience managing complex building interfaces and modern structural systems.
- Exposure to environmentally sensitive, estate, or heritage-led developments would be advantageous.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to lead from site.
- A clear and credible communicator, comfortable coordinating across multiple disciplines.
- Demonstrable leadership potential with a collaborative, delivery-driven mindset.
Why This Opportunity?
This role offers the chance to be part of a genuinely standout project, providing:
- A visible, hands‑on role with real influence over technical outcomes.
- A strong platform for progression into broader senior technical or regional leadership roles.
- A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
