Shopify Developer required

We're supporting a fast-growing direct-to-consumer (D2C) business in the search for a Senior Shopify Engineer to join their engineering team on an initial 4–5 month contract.

Having recently completed a full migration from a proprietary e-commerce platform to

Shopify Plus , the business is entering an exciting phase of growth and platform evolution.

This role will play a key part in stabilising the platform post-migration while helping shape the next generation of their Shopify experience.

This isn't a traditional delivery role where you'll simply work through tickets.

You'll be the Shopify expert within a small engineering team, working closely with engineering, product, marketing and content stakeholders to identify opportunities, solve problems proactively and influence the future direction of the platform.

The Role

You'll take ownership of the Shopify platform during a critical period following a major migration, helping to enhance and evolve the customer experience while supporting wider business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Shopify platform from an engineering perspective during the post-migration hypercare period.
  • Build, customise and optimise Shopify storefronts using Liquid and modern front-end technologies.
  • Configure and develop metaobjects, metafields and product detail pages.
  • Partner with marketing, content and product teams to translate business requirements into scalable Shopify solutions.
  • Work alongside the Integrations Engineer on third-party integrations, including Net Suite, Gorgias and Boomi.
  • Support and mentor a mid-level Shopify Engineer.
  • Proactively identify platform limitations, recommend improvements and help shape the technical roadmap.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong commercial experience building and owning Shopify platforms.
  • Proven experience with

Shopify Plus .

  • Expert knowledge of
  • Liquid

(essential).

  • Experience working within a

D2C e-commerce environment .

  • Front-end development experience with

Hydrogen, React or similar frameworks.

  • Good understanding of APIs and third-party integrations.
  • Able to operate as a senior technical lead, engaging confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to identify problems early and propose effective solutions.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join a business at a pivotal stage of its digital journey.

Following a recent Shopify migration, there's significant investment in improving and personalising the platform, expanding integrations and delivering a best-in-class customer experience.

The engineering team is small, collaborative and still evolving, giving you genuine influence over technical direction and the opportunity to make a visible impact from day one.

  • Contract Details
  • Initial 4–5 month contract
  • Remote-first with office attendance approximately once every two weeks (London)
  • Immediate start preferred
