Operating at the intersection of software and data, my client is looking to hire a Data Platform Engineer/ Software Engineer (Data), to continue building a sophisticated platform that processes high volumes of operational and market data in real time, enabling intelligent decision-making at scale. This isn't a traditional Data Engineering role. You'll be building and scaling the operational data platform that powers a core revenue-generating function of the business. The systems you build will support forecasting, optimisation, reconciliation and real-time operational decision-making. Reliability, latency and scalability matter because the platform sits directly in the path of commercial outcomes. If you enjoy building production-grade systems where data is used to drive action rather than reporting, this could be an excellent opportunity.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building and scaling AWS-based operational data platforms
  • Designing and implementing real-time streaming pipelines processing high-volume operational and market data
  • Developing datasets and data services that power critical business workflows
  • Building robust data lake and warehouse architectures for both batch and real-time use cases
  • Creating highly observable, reliable and testable systems with strong engineering standards
  • Automating infrastructure deployment through Infrastructure as Code
  • Working closely with engineers, analysts and business stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions
  • Contributing to the evolution of a modern, data-first platform operating at significant scale

What They're Looking For

  • Strong experience building production-grade data platforms on AWS
  • Experience working with streaming or event-driven architectures
  • Strong Python and/or TypeScript engineering skills
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally AWS CDK
  • A solid understanding of data platform design, scalability and performance optimisation
  • Experience building reliable systems with CI/CD, testing and observability practices
  • Knowledge of modern data storage technologies and large-scale data processing

Why This Role Stands Out

Most Data Engineering roles focus on moving data from A to B. This role is different. You'll be building the operational platform that underpins critical commercial workflows. The challenges are genuinely engineering-focused: High-volume event processing, real-time decision support, low-latency data systems, platform reliability and observability, revenue-critical infrastructure. You'll join a business with a genuine tech-for-good mission, solving complex problems with data while helping shape the future of clean energy. If you're a Senior Data Engineer, Data Infrastructure Engineer, Platform Engineer, or Software Engineer with a passion for building scalable data systems, please reach out today.
