We see a world where we all contribute to a thriving planet and together, we are a collective force for good. The Planet Mark is a sustainability certification which recognises outstanding achievements, encourages action, and builds an empowered community of like‑minded individuals. We work with businesses to rigorously measure their carbon footprint and social value, engage their staff and supply chain to unlock their knowledge and drive passion for change, and communicate their progress to build a positive brand. We help businesses put a purpose at the heart of their organisation that brings social, environmental, and economic considerations together.

We're on the look out for an Interim Operations Director to join us for a period of up to 9 months to own the delivery of a key project. You'll join us to provide strategic and operational leadership for the delivery of Planet Mark’s carbon measurement and analytics services. The role requires deep carbon measurement and reduction expertise and a strong understanding of emissions measurement methodologies, operational data, and the systems used to calculate and assure carbon outcomes.

This role is a fixed term contract for up to 9 months. Application deadline date: Wednesday 18th March 2026.

What that means day to day:

  • You’ll bring experience from technically complex, data‑driven environments - such as carbon accounting, climate technology, or product‑led organisations - and will drive forward the delivery of a new data model that maintains the integrity, quality, and compliance of carbon data across the full lifecycle, from member‑provided operational inputs through to analytics and reporting.
  • This role will lead the build of a new scalable, compliant data framework, determine new data governance and assurance processes, and drive continuous improvement across tools, processes, and standards alignment.
  • As a senior leader, the Interim Operations Director works closely with Technical, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure robust, future‑ready measurement services that support Planet Mark’s growth ambitions and industry impact, including engagement with evolving standards, policy, and external industry bodies where relevant.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide senior leadership and ownership of the carbon data framework and analytical inputs and outputs; ensuring reliable, scalable and technically robust delivery across Planet Mark’s services.
  • Own the evolution of systems, data requirements and operational workflows that underpin carbon measurement, translating complex methodologies and standards into scalable, product‑led solutions.
  • Be responsive to Planet Mark’s carbon data and measurement approaches, overseeing data quality, governance, audit readiness and alignment with relevant reporting standards and methodologies.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to identify platform requirements that drive system adoption, and reduce operational risk through automation, tooling and process design.
  • Deliver the means for the development of analytics and insights that enable decision‑making across value chains, sectors and portfolios, informed by high‑quality operational and emissions data.
  • Line management responsibility for the Operations teams consisting of carbon consultants and data analysts.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Carbon data expertise that is complemented by strategic and commercial thinking to ensure the correct balance between quality, efficiency and opportunity.
  • Proven senior operations leadership experience in a high growth, technical or data driven environment, with a strong track record of scaling service delivery.
  • Strong capability in managing complex data operations, including data governance, quality control, audits and compliance with carbon reporting standards (SBTi, GHG Protocol, ISO 140643).
  • Exceptional cross‑functional collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills at senior levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead and develop high performing teams with clear accountability, coaching and performance management.
  • Analytical, structured and solutions focused thinker with the ability to design scalable operating models and navigate ambiguity.
