The ASMPT team is looking to fill the position of R&D Technician at our coastal office in Weymouth. The Role:
- Interpreting and carrying out test procedures.
- Building and assembling modules for ASMPT printers.
- Analysing performance or test data.
- Investigating a problem to identify the underlying cause.
- Identifying a solution to a problem or improvement opportunity.
- Contributing to the design of an item or process.
- Carrying out necessary tests and collecting and analysing results.
- Contributing to best practice methods of continuous improvement by improving the quality of an operation or process.
- Preparing communications, documents, and reports on technical matters.
- An understanding of drawing permits to work, instructions or other similar documents after appropriate checking, and identifying issues.
About You:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team!
You Will Have:
- A Level 3 qualification with mid-level experience OR Apprenticeship with mid-level experience OR comparable specialist knowledge with entry-level of professional experience.
- An understanding of functional mechanical and electrical design, providing feedback on design for manufacture, design for assembly and functional performance.
- Proven mechanical and electrical assembly skills.
- Hands-on skills with mechanical assembly and tools working from CAD models without formal build procedures.
- Hands-on skills with electrical enclosures, harnesses and looms working from electrical schematics and CAD data without formal build procedures.
- Problem solving skills related to mechanical and electrical build issues and functional performance.
- An understanding of electrical schematics and wiring schedules.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of SAP (Desirable but not essential).
- Awareness of EDM systems such as Teamcenter PLM (Desirable but not essential).
- Awareness of 3D CAD tools such as NX (Desirable but not essential).
- Awareness of IPC electronic standards (Desirable but not essential).
