As the Electrical Engineering Manager, you will lead and develop a team responsible for delivering innovative electrical, electronic and electromechanical solutions for advanced manufacturing and factory automation equipment. You will combine technical expertise with strong leadership skills to oversee complex engineering projects, support product development and ensure the successful delivery of world-class solutions.
You Will:
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of engineers, supporting both performance and career progression.
- Plan the work and resources needed to enable effective implementation of significant engineering projects.
- Oversee the design and development of complex electrical, electronic and mechatronic systems.
- Make and implement responsible decisions that are ethical, inclusive, and assess personal, team and organisational performance.
- Create and/or maintain a culture where everybody has a sense of purpose, knows what is expected of them at work and can adapt to changing needs.
- Take technical responsibility for delivering innovative products and solutions.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, resources and technical risks.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, regulations and engineering best practices.
- Carry out and record the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to maintain and enhance competence.
- Create a sustainable workforce, that encourages and supports each other in achieving personal and professional goals.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across R&D and the wider business.
- Support continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools and methodologies.
- Experience ensuring machinery complies with applicable safety regulations and standards.
About You:
You are an experienced engineering leader with a strong technical background and a passion for developing high-performing teams. You thrive on solving complex engineering challenges and have a proven ability to lead projects from concept through to delivery. You bring excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, coupled with a collaborative approach to working across multidisciplinary teams. Organised and commercially aware, you can effectively balance technical excellence, project priorities and business objectives. Most importantly, you are motivated by innovation, continuous improvement and helping others succeed, creating an environment where people and products can perform at their best.
You Will Have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams within a product development, manufacturing or technology environment.
- Strong understanding of electrical, electronic, electromechanical and mechatronic systems.
- Experience delivering complex engineering projects and taking technical responsibility for engineering solutions.
- Knowledge of electrical design tools such as EPlan or Altium and PLM systems.
- Understanding of engineering drawing standards and product development processes.
- Experience planning project timescales, resources and budgets.
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Experience
- Motion control systems and motor tuning.
- PCB layout and design.
- SAP knowledge.
- Experience designing special-purpose machinery.
