As the range of projects that we work on grow, so does our team! We are currently looking to hire a Systems Engineering Manager at our coastal office in Weymouth.
The role of the Systems Engineering Manager is to manage solutions for printing and factory line solutions, and their associated modules and configurable options, solving complex engineering problems using new or existing technologies, and through innovation, creativity, and technical analysis with a strong focus on quality.
- Use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to optimise the application of advanced and complex systems.
- Use management skills to enable and empower a team to deliver to their highest capability whilst ensuring suitable career progression and development of individuals to enhance the business.
- Manage system engineering elements within projects to predetermined schedules with a strong focus on quality.
- Identify and define project requirements, problems, and opportunities.
- Evaluate and analyse the solution regarding the achievement of system performance characteristics.
- Monitor requirement quality and moderation of necessary improvements.
- Plan the work and resources needed to enable effective implementation of a significant engineering project.
- Manage (organise, direct and control), programme or schedule, budget and resource elements of a significant engineering project.
- Make and implement responsible decisions that are ethical, inclusive, and assess personal, team and organisational performance.
- Identify capabilities to build an effective team, and input into plans to attract, recruit, develop and retain people to optimise performance.
- Build effective, inclusive relationships and networks, employing the 'inside-out' and 'outside-in' strategies, influencing with integrity.
- Lead sustainable and creative approaches to change, development, and improvement by clearly communicating and engaging others in the process.
- Carry out and record the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to maintain and enhance competence.
Requirements:
- Have a Level 6 qualification (Bachelor’s Degree) with management experience, or Chartered Engineer with management experience or Senior Engineer with management experience.
- Have proven analysis/evaluation of system design for hardware and software systems.
- Have proven experience in the design and validation of engineering requirements.
- Have successful application of the knowledge of systems design and product interfaces for complex engineering systems.
- Be experienced in estimating for time scales, resources, and budget for team planning.
- Have knowledge of the product creation and change management processes.
- Have proven experience of structuring and packaging of requirements to support modular and iterative development process.
- Be proficient using a requirement management system (Polarion, Doors etc.).
- Have a high-level knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices.
- Be competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills written and verbal across various levels within the business.
- Be proficient in Azure DevOps (Desirable).
- Apply knowledge and understanding of a Printing/Factory environment to guide team to the appropriate solution.
