The Role
As the range of projects continues to grow, so does the team! Cogito is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the R&D department at our client’s coastal office in Weymouth. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will conceptualise and deliver the mechanical design of SMT printing machines and associated modules. You will:
- Develop new designs, processes, or systems based on new or evolving technology.
- Carry out complex and/or nonstandard technical analyses.
- Conduct technical risk analysis and identify mitigation measures.
- Take an active role in identifying and defining project requirements, problems, and opportunities.
- Conduct investigations and research to undertake design, development, and analysis tasks effectively.
- Implement design solutions with safety, sustainability, scalability, and maintainability in mind.
- Lead and assist others to meet changing technical and managerial needs.
- Exchange information and provide advice to technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Lead, chair, contribute to, and record meetings and discussions.
- Prepare reports, drawings, specifications, and other documentation.
- Prepare proposals or studies, identify goals, and lead collective work efforts.
- Understand the safety implications of your role and manage safe systems of work.
- Carry out and record Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
About You
Cogito is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join this exceptional team! You will have:
- Master’s Degree in a technical discipline (or equivalent Level 7 qualification) with mid-level experience, OR a Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6 qualification) with senior-level experience, OR Chartered Engineer status with mid-level experience.
- High-level understanding of the functional interdependencies of dynamic mechanical, electromechanical, and mechatronic systems.
- Proven experience in defining, designing, and assembling manufacturing processes, costs, and geometric tolerances.
- Good knowledge of NX CAD tools (or similar) and EDM systems such as Teamcenter PLM.
- High-level knowledge of BS8888 and/or ISO8015.
- Familiarity with the product creation and change management processes.
- Competence in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- DFM and DFA knowledge.
- (Desirable) Knowledge of SAP and FEA static linear analysis skills.
