Senior / Principal Planning Consultant

Location: Irvine, Scotland – Hybrid & Remote working available

£40,000 – £55,000 DOE

The Role

We are seeking a talented and highly collaborative Senior/Principal Planning Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will take responsibility for leading medium- to large-scale projects, managing multidisciplinary teams, and delivering high-quality results for our clients.

You’ll be involved in preparing and reviewing submissions for EIA and non-EIA planning applications, managing sub-contractors, and contributing to all stages of project development. With a focus on teamwork and collaboration, you’ll guide projects to success while ensuring tight deadlines are met.

This a great role for someone wanting to make that step up into Associate Director.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and deliver complex planning projects with high-quality outcomes.
  • Prepare quotations and proposals for new business opportunities.
  • Manage sub-contractors and interdisciplinary design teams.
  • Prepare, review, and edit documents for submission to planning authorities.
  • Write clear, concise, and professional reports.
  • Contribute to all development stages, from planning to delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders through verbal and written presentations.

What We’re Looking For

  • A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in planning and development.
  • Experience with the UK planning system and interdisciplinary environments.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality results on complex projects.
  • Strong organisational and IT skills, including proficiency with MS Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Chartered member status of the RTPI (or working towards).
  • A full, clean driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience with renewable energy projects.
  • Experience of ArcGIS
  • Experience of AutoCAD
