Cogent Staffing are recruiting for Warehouse Operative/Van Drivers for our established automotive distribution client based in Newtownabbey, Belfast. This is a temporary to permanent role, with successful candidates taken on as a permanent member of staff after a period of 12 qualifying weeks.
Role summary: The Van Driver/Warehouse Operative plays a vital role in ensuring timely and efficient deliveries of goods. This position combines driving responsibilities with warehouse operations, facilitating the smooth flow of products from the warehouse to customers.
Warehouse Operative/Van Driver shift & salary:
- Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:30
- Alternating Saturday mornings 08:30 - 12:30 (non negotiable)
- £12.71 per hour
- 1 hour unpaid break per shift
- 42 hour working week average
- Ongoing work with potential for a permanent role after 12 full weeks qualifying period
- Immediate start
- Free parking
- Temporary to permanent assignment

Warehouse Operative/Van Driver role details:
- Generating pick sheets
- Picking order loads from sheets
- Carrying out warehouse operations, packing orders, processing goods
- Using hand held scanners to pick orders
- Manual handling and heavy lifting of up to 30kg when required
- Driving to regular customers if required with around 10-12 drops per run
Warehouse Operative/Van Driver requirements:
- This is predominantly a warehouse role not driving; driving duties will only be in the event you need to cover a Driver who is absent etc. or during peak periods
- Must have no more than 6 points on driving licence
- Must be prepared to pick and load van daily
- Has previous warehouse experience
- Must be capable of lifting up to 30kg
- Comfortable with driving long distances following route navigation when needed
- Happy to work within the warehouse not majority driving
