Cogent Staffing are looking for a proactive and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our clients engineering team based in Royston, Melbourn. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient maintenance of machinery on-site, contributing to uninterrupted production while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Work Details & Salary
- £43,000 - £45,000 DOE
- Full-time
- 37.5 hrs a week
- 3 shift weekly rotating pattern: early (6am - 2pm, 11.30am finish Friday), late (2pm - 10pm, 11.30am - 5pm Friday), nights (10pm - 6am, 12.30am - 6am Monday)
Key Responsibilities
- Quickly respond to machinery breakdowns and prioritize repairs to limit production downtime.
- Conduct safety checks and perform preventative maintenance at designated intervals.
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety protocols and the company's quality assurance standards.
- Carry out both mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Accurately log all maintenance activities in our management system (APP), detailing issues, solutions, and parts utilized.
- Maintain proper storage and labeling of spare parts to ensure effective stock control.
- Identify and report remedial work during inspections or behavioral observations.
- Deliver on-time completion of planned maintenance schedules with high quality.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and Assistant Manager to share concerns and opportunities for improvement.
- Engage in coaching and professional development of fellow maintenance engineers.
Key Requirements
- Must have previous experience in a maintenance engineering role, ideally in a manufacturing or production setting.
- Experience with both mechanical and electrical maintenance.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
- Familiarity with Health & Safety regulations and quality compliance measures.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently under pressure.
- Experience with digital maintenance systems (e.g., APP or equivalent).
- Proactive problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Relevant qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering, or adjacent.
