Cogent Staffing are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Fitter to join our clients maintenance department, within a busy engineering company based in Huddersfield. The successful candidate will work in compliance with company standards and ISO9001 Quality System requirements, reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Work Details & Salary
- Β£41,000 per annum
- Contracted to 37 hours per week, but likely working 42 hours
- Overtime is required when necessary and is paid at 1.35x for 7 hours and 1.65 for anything over
- Monday to Thursday: 07:30 - 12:00, 12:30 - 16:00
- Friday: 07:30 - 12:30

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement preventative maintenance strategies to enhance machine reliability.
- Follow company standards and ISO9001 quality system requirements.
- Conduct fault finding, testing, and make adjustments or remove fittings, fixtures, and parts as necessary.
- Overhaul and repair all plant machinery, including PLC-controlled equipment, CNC, and manual machine tools.
- Analyse fault causes and implement cost-effective solutions in the absence of detailed specifications.
- Maintain and manage all machine documentation and records accurately.
- Install new machinery and equipment when required.
- Perform general repairs to the building and its facilities.
- Ensure that Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) standards are adhered to and maintained at all times.
- Be available for overtime as required and instructed by supervision.
Key Requirements
- Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship.
- Ideally 100% mechanical bias, will accept up to 70/30.
- Experience in maintaining and repairing various plant and machinery, including CNC and manual machine tools and fabrication equipment, is desirable.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to overtime as necessary.
- Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach to maintenance tasks.
- Good understanding of HS&E policies and practices.
