Ensure the smooth running of the shift working closely with other teams on workflow to maximise production output. Responsible for the lab in the absence of other members of the Lab Management team. Key Responsibilities: Take a lead on the dayto-day people management of your shift team members. Identify and support the training and development requirements of your team using a Cogent Values led coaching style. Perform regular 12-1 meetings with the team reviewing their achievements and development and seeking input and support from Laboratory Management, especially where objectives are not being met. Be responsible for the organisation of the workflow and task delegation for the shift period. Act as the key communication point between the Shift Teams and the Laboratories Management Team. Ensure data integrity and production traceability is maintained across all CBL lab systems and processes. Ensure the shift tasks are completed and any issues arising are communicated immediately to the Laboratory management. Pursue expert knowledge and operation of flow cytometers as required by ST SOPs, aiming to optimise each sort period to achieve benchmark performance and quality metrics. Cascade production targets to the team and produce effective live feedback to Lab Manager. At all times ensure full compliance with CBL Lab H&S directives, CBL Lab SOPs and policies to allow good laboratory practice and full compliance with the Regulations and Industry Standards. Checking and signing off lab records made by the team, flagging any anomalies to CBL Lab Management Ensure all functional parts of the lab and equipment are in good operational condition are maintained serviceable and hygienic to perform their specific Essential Skills and Attributes: This role requires a high level of competency and experience in people leadership or an aptitude to train in these skills. It is advantageous to have a technical capability with laboratory equipment and flow cytometer sorters, being comfortable to trouble shoot and maintain the equipment and train lab staff members in best operational practices. The individual must be commercially minded with either previous experience of sperm and AI biology or can demonstrate a biological aptitude. They must be capable of data management and analysis and have a mind set to continuously evaluate and improve current procedures. They must work to high personal standards, improving their own individual knowledge and seeking to share and train others. Willingness to go over and above the minimum role requirements and practice the company values Additional Information: Due to the location of the role, full UK driving license and/or own transport is essential
