We at Coforge are looking for a Technical Architect in Sheffield, UK.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Architect with strong expertise in commercial card and banking systems. The role involves end-to-end solution design, close collaboration with business and technology stakeholders, and leadership in delivering scalable, secure, and resilient banking solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand business requirements, solution designs, and technical specifications to design and deliver custom application features and functionality.
  • Review BRDs and translate requirements into MVPs, user stories, and technical designs.
  • Lead end-to-end solution architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards, platform roadmaps, and cost-effective design principles.
  • Provide architectural direction and leadership while working closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with business sponsors to shape business strategies and technology roadmaps.
  • Identify, manage, and elevate architectural risks and issues effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with architecture governance, standards, and best practices.
  • Mentor and support junior architects and technical team members.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and partners to define integration patterns and architecture approaches.
  • Stay current with emerging technology trends and proactively communicate insights to stakeholders.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining complex banking applications, particularly credit card processing systems.
  • Strong expertise in commercial card products, with knowledge of multiple card platforms preferred.
  • Proven experience delivering solutions in architect or senior technical roles over multiple years.
  • Solid background in financial services; lending or cards experience is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrixed organisation and resolve cross-team challenges.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate in ambiguous environments.
  • Experience collaborating with both business and IT stakeholders to drive solution outcomes.
  • Knowledge of or certification in at least one cloud platform.
  • Awareness of infrastructure, integration, data, messaging, and security architectures.
  • Experience with resilient, high-availability system design.
  • Strong cybersecurity mindset and understanding of secure architecture principles.
  • Digital Retail Banking experience (Cards or Loans preferred).
  • Full-stack solution design experience (Web, Mobile Apps, APIs, Orchestration; Mainframe knowledge is a plus but not mandatory).
  • Hands-on experience or certification in cloud technologies.
