About The Role

Role: Mechanical Technician / Fitter

Description/Definition

Mechanical Technicians / Fitter are required to undertake all types of mechanical installations including pipe work and site fabrication across water and waste water treatment plants, commercial, industrial and domestic type installations. A strong ability to interpret technical documents and manuals.

Responsibilities/Key Duties

  • To perform skilled preventative maintenance, tests and repairs in a variety of areas
  • Design minor mechanical and plumbing installations
  • Carry out all mechanical and plumbing installations
  • Calculating material quantities and lists
  • Finding and solving (troubleshooting) of mechanical and/or plumbing issues
  • Reporting to Senior Mechanical Technician
  • To act as a mentor for an apprentice
  • Mechanical fit out of water and waste water treatments plants
  • Domestic plumbing installations
  • Report findings and recommendations to supervisor
  • Maintaining records of all work undertaken
  • To complete relevant safety documentation

About You

Requirements

  • Relevant qualification – FETAC/City & Guilds or equivalent experience
  • Experience in the water and waste water industry would be an advantage
  • Ability to read CAD and PNID drawings
  • Must be flexible in working hours
  • To be able to work on own initiative and to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and to work at height
  • Full driving licence
  • Experience of welding of steel and plastic would be an advantage
