As a Principal Consultant, you will be responsible for building and leading projects from a technical point of view, ensuring we retain the highest level of quality consistently across the delivery. There will be at times, a requirement to travel, visiting client sites across the UK and occasionally abroad, with nights away from home.
We are seeking an experienced Principal Consultant with a strong background in SQL Server, Data Warehousing, and Business Intelligence tools. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Data Warehousing, SAP Business Objects Data Services, SAP Business Objects, and Crystal Reports. This position requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual who has experience in designing, implementing, and managing data integration processes, reports, and data warehousing solutions. In addition, this position requires the candidate to lead a small team of off-shore data engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities to an off-shore team.
- Design, develop, and maintain data integration processes using SAP Business Objects Data Services.
- Work with SQL Server databases to create and optimize queries and stored procedures for data extraction and reporting.
- Develop and maintain data warehouses, ensuring they meet business requirements for reporting and analytics.
- Create and manage reports and dashboards using SAP Business Objects and Crystal Reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and understand business requirements, ensuring the design of scalable and effective data solutions.
- Optimize database performance and troubleshoot any issues related to data warehousing, ETL and reporting tools.
- Provide ongoing support for the data pipeline and reporting systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Continuously evaluate and implement best practices for data management, reporting, and analytics.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of SQL and Data Warehousing concepts, with hands-on experience in data modeling and database design.
- Experience with SAP Business Objects for business intelligence and reporting.
- Experience with SAP Business Objects Data Services for ETL.
- Expertise in Crystal Reports for designing and delivering business reports.
- Ability to create optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with additional Analytics / Business Intelligence tools and technologies (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) is a plus.
- Knowledge of other Microsoft data integration tools and techniques.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and big data technologies is a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in SQL Server, Data Integration, and BI/reporting technologies.
