We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment to support the engineering design phase of a major offshore Exploration & Production development project. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and specialist engineering expertise for rotating equipment, supporting concept development, FEED and detailed engineering activities. The role will work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, EPC contractors, and equipment vendors to ensure that all rotating equipment packages are designed and delivered in accordance with project specifications, international standards, and company technical assurance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and specialist engineering support for all rotating equipment engineering activities across assigned projects. Ensure the technical integrity, reliability and operability of rotating equipment designs in accordance with project specifications and company standards. Develop and review equipment specifications, data sheets, engineering calculations and technical requisitions.
  • Engineering Design & Execution: Perform and oversee rotating equipment engineering activities across the project lifecycle, from concept selection and engineering studies through FEED, detailed design and commissioning support. Conduct technical evaluations and support site surveys or technical assessments where required. Review and approve engineering deliverables, design documentation and calculations.
  • Vendor & Package Engineering: Lead technical bid evaluations and vendor selection for rotating equipment packages. Conduct vendor clarification meetings and design reviews to ensure equipment compliance with project requirements. Review and approve vendor drawings, technical documentation, performance curves and package integration details.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Coordination: Coordinate closely with Process, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation and Structural disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions. Review and contribute to multi-disciplinary engineering work scopes and project deliverables. Resolve technical interface issues between engineering disciplines, contractors and equipment suppliers.
  • Engineering Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all engineering work is conducted in accordance with company technical assurance processes, HSE policies, and environmental standards. Review and evaluate technical deviations, engineering variations and contract changes against approved standards and project guidelines. Support the continuous improvement and application of company engineering standards and procedures.
  • Planning & Team Support: Plan and coordinate engineering activities and deliverables to support overall project schedules. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers within the project team. Support knowledge sharing and the development of engineering capability within the organisation.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent international professional registration/accreditation would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 12 years of specialized experience in rotating equipment engineering in the Oil & Gas/Energy industry.
  • Proven experience supporting offshore upstream facilities, particularly during FEED and Detailed Engineering phases, with minimum 5 years as client representative.
  • Strong familiarity with international engineering codes and standards, including API, ISO and ASME standards relevant to rotating equipment.
  • Hands‑on experience with critical rotating equipment such as: Centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, Gas turbines and steam turbines, Centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, and Other critical rotating machinery packages.
  • Experience in equipment specification development, vendor package engineering, and technical bid evaluations.
  • Strong leadership capability with demonstrated ability in managing engineering deliverables in a multi-project environment, balancing technical quality, cost control, and schedule requirements.
  • Strong technical writing, communication and presentation skills.
