El tradicional informe acerca de la demanda de ‘talento Open Source’ que cada año publica The Linux Foundation informa que desde hace unos años, además, el informe no se centra exclusivamente en Linux, si no en las tecnologías de código abierto con mayor especialización y crecimiento en el sector profesional. Con todo, las perspectivas que arroja The Linux Foundation con su Open Source Technology Jobs Report no suponen una sorpresa en ningún sentido, pues la tendencia de crecimiento se mantiene inalterable desde que publican este informe: la demanda de profesionales especializados en tecnologías de código abierto es un hecho, con un 87% de los responsables de contratación encuestados declarando dificultades para encontrar a expertos en determinadas materias.
Lo que sí evoluciona son las áreas de interés en las que dichos responsables de contratación ponen el ojo, y después de varios años en los que Linux había cedido su puesto de privilegio en favor de las tecnologías en la nube, hoy recupera la primera posición. No obstante, todo sigue girando en torno a la nube y junto con OpenStack, las prácticas Devops y las tecnologías de contendores, léase Docker y Kubernetes como máximos exponentes, son las que mayor crecimiento experimentan.
El informe, basado en las respuestas a nivel internacional de más de 750 responsables de contratación de corporaciones, pequeñas y medianas empresas, organizaciones gubernamentales y agencias de personal, así como más de 6.500 profesionales especializados en código abierto, no se olvida tampoco del Big Data, la inteligencia artificial o el Internet de las cosas, a medio plazo las tecnologías más prometedoras en el ámbito profesional. Aunque cabe repetir que todo está relacionado entre sí.
Como dato digno de mención, esa falta de ‘talento Open Source’ está haciendo que un 48% de las organizaciones contribuyan directamente con proyectos, bien con código u otro tipo de recursos, “con el único fin de atraer y reclutar profesionales con el conocimiento adecuado“. Asimismo, se registra un aumento del 76% con respecto a empresas que, para satisfacer su propia demanda, invierten en la capacitación y certificaciones de sus empleados.
