About the Role

Are you caring, committed, and enthusiastic about helping others live independently? We’re looking for passionate Support Workers to join our supported living service in Newport. You’ll be supporting five independent adults living in their own self‑contained flats in a beautiful building overlooking the River Usk.

2 permanent roles – 18 hours per week, plus an additional sleep‑in shift (total 27 hours p/w). Full flexibility required to work days, evenings, sleep‑ins, weekends, and bank holidays. Sleep‑in shifts paid at a set rate for a 9‑hour shift (10:30pm–7:30am), on top of contracted hours.

Key Duties

  • Providing person‑centered support for daily needs, including the possibility of personal care (showering, bathing, brushing teeth, continence care, etc.).
  • Supporting dietary needs and food preparation.
  • Offering emotional support.
  • Completing cleaning and digital administrative tasks.
  • Administering and managing medication.
  • Monitoring individual medication stocks and finances.
  • Bringing innovative ideas to improve team practices.

Skills and Experience Needed

  • A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided.
  • IT, literacy & numeracy skills.
  • Experience working as part of a team and customer service skills.

Pay and Pensions

  • £25,877 FTE (£13.45 per hour)
  • Sleep‑in rate: £62.64 per 8 hour shift – approx. 1 per week.
  • Waking night rate: 20% enhancement from 11pm to 7am.
  • Enhanced DBS which we will pay for.
  • Social Care Wales registration is fully reimbursed.
  • Pension Choices:

  • Defined Benefit (DB) – 1/80th of final salary for every year of service.
