  • Work Type: Full time
  • Locations: Newport
  • Area: Customer & Community (Support)
  • Categories: Support: All Support roles, Support: Housing First

A full-time, permanent Floating Support worker within our Housing First team, Newport. You will predominately work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm but flexibility is. You will require a driving licence and access to a car.

Housing First is a pioneering, internationally recognised approach that supports people experiencing the most complex forms of homelessness. Rather than expecting people to address challenges before accessing housing, Housing First provides a stable, permanent home first and then offers the long-term, intensive support needed to help individuals overcome barriers such as mental ill health, substance misuse, trauma, and social exclusion.

As a Floating Support Worker, you'll be part of a passionate, multi-disciplinary team dedicated to helping people rebuild their lives. You'll work alongside Coordinators and specialist partners to provide practical, flexible, and person-centred support that empowers people to achieve their goals, increase their independence, and sustain meaningful change.

No two days are the same. You could be supporting someone to attend an important appointment, helping them open their first bank account, improving access to healthcare, connecting them with community resources, or developing the skills and confidence needed to maintain a tenancy and thrive independently. Working closely with our Occupational Therapy and Substance Misuse partners, you'll support people at every stage of their journey, from those sleeping rough or living in emergency accommodation to individuals successfully settling into their own homes.

The Housing First team supports up to 30 customers across the service, giving you the opportunity to build strong, trusting relationships and make a genuine, lasting difference to people's lives. If you're passionate about helping people overcome adversity, believe in the power of second chances, and want to be part of an innovative service that delivers real outcomes, we'd love to hear from you.

Skills and Experience Needed

  • A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible
  • A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player
  • Ability to deal with conflicting and difficult situations
  • Resilient and able to cope with the ever-changing circumstances and the emotional need to the people with support

Full list of duties and can found on the Job description.
