Overview: The Network Engineer is a technical and practical role working in an outsourced environment for a global client based in Aberdeen. This role is involved in the provision and refresh of network gear to multiple global sites.

The Network Engineer role includes:
- Build, configure, and deliver to a defined design specification.
- Understanding of LAN, WAN, Firewall kit – Fortigate, PaloAlto & Cisco hardware and interdependencies of broader IT aspects.
- Work within a broad discipline project team to provide technical delivery and solutions.
- Contribute to technical design for new solutions, working closely with IT Architecture teams on defining and applying technology standards.
- Complete standardised technical documentation.
- Practical aspects of testing new hardware and solutions.
- Have an interest in wider technologies and interdependencies.
- Global travel to approx. 60 days per year.
- 3rd line escalation point for problem management in conjunction with support teams, for issues or outages relating to supported business as usual services in line with service criticality expectations.
Professional Qualifications / Experience:
- IT degree level education or equivalent experience.
- CCNA and CCNP (or working towards this).
- Relevant experience in support or project delivery of Network discipline.
- Knowledge of industry standards and current technology trends.
- Understanding of IT operational risk management, project delivery and service methodologies (e.g. ITIL, ISO).

- Proven IT projects implementation skills.
- Excellent communication both verbal and written with strong team player mindset and an ability to foster good professional relationships with client and project stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines with a pragmatic and flexible approach.
- Enthusiastic, energetic and self-motivated.
- Able to work with minimal supervision and take responsibility for moving projects and work forward.
- Ability and flexibility to travel – sometimes at short notice.
This role is located in Aberdeen and is office based.
