We’re hiring a Business Analyst to join our team to deliver projects for our clients across a broad range of industries, with a particular focus on delivering Business Applications. Each new member of our team gives us an opportunity for us to bring in a different perspective, with different experiences and we are always eager to further diversify our BA team, and our company. Codec is committed to building an inclusive, supportive place for you to do the best and most rewarding work of your career.

Key Responsibilities

Fundamentally, this job involves taking overall responsibility for eliciting, understanding and translating requirements and mapping them to the Microsoft Business Application technologies we use to deliver them. We’re not looking for somebody to create a large requirement document and throw it over the fence to our developers to struggle with. We’re not looking for someone who is unwilling to learn new low-code / no-code Microsoft technologies. It might suit you if you are an experienced Business Analyst looking for a new challenge or are a contractor who is considering moving into a stable, high profile, successful, accomplished yet growing team.

Our Team consists of a diverse group of consultants, who have a wide range of experience in business, functional, finance, utilities, health care, telecoms, commercial and Health at a range of levels from graduates BA to Senior Principal BA. All of our BAs benefit from Codec’s partnership with the International Institute of Business Analysis, becoming accredited and leveraging IIBA best practices to help guide our standards. As a senior business analyst at Codec, you’ll join the team, and most importantly - be made feel part of the team, from day one.

In broad terms you will be responsible for:

  • Rapid prototyping client requirements so that you realise value fast
  • Driving the business towards early design decisions through entity modelling
  • Assisting our customers in mapping high level business requirements to low level functional requirements and in identifying issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Challenging assumptions
  • Identifying risk and providing solutions
  • Influencing stakeholders both internally and with clients
  • Ensuring requirements demonstrate business value
  • Performing ‘Fit Gap’ analysis as part of process design exercises
  • Mapping ‘As Is’ and ‘To Be’ processes
  • Playing a part in solution envisioning
  • Playing a part in the presales process
  • Working with Solution and Enterprise Architects, Business owners, and Business Analyst Teams to understand fully our customers requirements and document accordingly
  • Leading client workshops to scope and define projects
  • Prioritising and executing tasks for each project
  • Modelling, POC’s and both lo-fi and hi-fi wire frames
  • Leading User first training programmes, designed by you
  • Liaising with client business owners, business analysts and development teams to confirm requirements in the context of the platform, software or tools chosen to deliver
  • The end-to-end requirements management process in Azure DevOps
  • Playing a part in test cycles to support the QA testers and business users when resolving issues and bugs
  • Ensuring requirements traceability at each stage
  • Managing and measuring solution benefits mapped to business cases
  • Ensuring systems and changes are smoothly transitioned into operation including, supporting documentation and required user training
  • Managing the scope of your work - knowing how to control scope creep

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Ideally, you’ll have worked within a consultancy, or people services organisation, delivering Microsoft business applications projects and understand the needs of these organisations. You’ll have worked under pressure and to tight deadlines in the past, we won’t tell you that there won’t be pressure and deadlines, but with us, you are supported by a community of BAs and tech consultants that are there to help.

You’ll know how to prepare for and conduct requirements workshops and collaborative prototyping sessions, taking a lead to ensure you ask the right questions, and get the answers you need to successfully deliver a project. You’ll learn from us and we’ll learn from you. You’ll get plenty of support along the way. You’ll have the freedom and autonomy to do your best work. We work on trust, and everyone in our BA team values the flexibility that trust provides.

We don’t expect you to know everything about the specific technologies we are delivering, now or after you decide to work here, but it would help if you knew how to use no-code / low code tools such as configurable CRM systems, Power Apps, Dynamics 365 or similar tooling. Our Business Analysts like to configure both real working proof of concepts as well as traditional wireframes and visualisations; it’s not one size fits all when it comes to outputs.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone with demonstrable Business Analysis experience. You might have delivered Microsoft Business Applications projects in the past. You might not. We care about what you can do and how you do it, not about how you got here. You will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, exceptional communication skills and be results focused. You’ll understand different approaches when eliciting requirements in both waterfall and agile projects. You are the type of person who genuinely wants your customers to feel they are getting value.

We understand that the average working environment isn’t what it used to be. In the BCD practice, we are super people focused. We want you to want to be a part of our team, and we invest in making it a nice place to work. We work from where we are comfortable, but we come together to collaborate, in person each week. We are friendly, we are quick to trust, we see things through, we’re kind to each other, look up to each other, and support each other. We achieve together. We are colleagues who may disagree and that’s OK. We value people who can take a stand yet commit to deliver even when they disagree, and we understand the value in others being heard. We subject all ideas to consideration and challenge each other, but all remember that we’re here for the same purpose: to do good work together and deliver for our customers. That comes with direct feedback, openness to each other’s experience, and willingness to show up for each other as well as for the work at hand.
