Code Wizards are one of the world leaders in Game Tech and Esports Tech. We're in a period of growth and looking to bolster our DevOps capabilities adding more engineers to our team.
We're open to talking to Contractors with a background in games, available to start immediately to work on everything from small mobile indie titles to AAA console/PC games.
As an experienced DevOps Engineer, you are the backbone of multiplayer games. You use your wealth of games industry knowledge and your technical DevOps skills to help keep games online and running, whatever challenges are thrown at you. You form a core part of our global operations team, and you work closely with game studios to help them with global infrastructure challenges. One day you might be working with a customer planning and advising best practices for their upcoming game launch and the next day you might be writing terraform to implement and scale a new game infrastructure. You use your skills to help educate others in the team and act as an escalation point for head-scratching problems. Incidents are no problem for you, and you are happy to pick up and run with an outage, working with internal teams and the customer to keep game infrastructure online.
Do you love the games industry, a constant technical challenge and working with smart folks on interesting problems? Come and say hi!
What we are looking for:
Someone who can work directly with customers at large game publishers and studios – Advising on best practices or troubleshooting/debugging
Comfortable coaching and helping team members, assisting with escalated issues and navigating difficult scenarios that may require you to manage situations across multiple teams
An excitement to expand your knowledge on unfamiliar infrastructure and tools
Expertise in diagnosing and performing root cause analysis on customer infrastructure, including in incident scenarios
Able to proactively identify and raise methods of improving team efficiency and procedures which will help improve the support to our customers
Automation guru on a wide variety of tools – Ansible, Terraform, Grafana, and Kubernetes to name a few
Excellent knowledge of containers, clouds, virtual machines (Preferably AWS)
Deep experience with Linux server administration (And a little bit of Windows! (sorry!))
Able to write clean, scaleable and performant scripts & code
Highly productive – Known by others for getting things done!
Comfortable being part of a regular on-call rotation supporting our customers and internal teams
If possible we would also love:
A keen interest in programming or tinkering with your own code-based projects!
Experience working in the gaming industry, ideally backend systems for online games
Experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal
We're a karma company that believes that we should be the best bipedal hominids we can be. We aim for transparency, being straightforward, and super inclusive too.
Initially, we will be looking at people with knowledge of the Games Industry.
