Geotechnical Engineering has always been a core part of this firm's make up, and they now seek an experienced Associate (or Principal level) Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist to join their practice in central Manchester. The portfolio of projects is expanding and they need to increase the team's expertise to meet the demands of their clients, especially in the transport infrastructure sector and the energy sector (carbon capture & storage, renewable energy, and low carbon engineering). Drive and enthusiasm are two non-negotiables as is a strong technical background and an excellent track record in project management (the role involves mentoring junior staff, so effective communication skills are essential).
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A degree in civil engineering or geology.
- A postgraduate qualification in a geotechnical subject.
- A minimum of three years of experience post-chartered status, either as a geologist or civil engineer.
Candidates should have:
- Experience in leading Geotechnical Design Projects for large infrastructure projects.
- Extensive experience in the UK highways sector, including National Highways Geotechnical Certification projects.
- Ideally chartered (CEng or CGeol) or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of competence.
- Proven experience of acting in a senior role in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
- Project management experience and understanding of the needs and approaches to the engineering consultancy and design markets, including relationships with clients, work planning and commercial management.
