About Our Client
Our client is a leading UK-based energy and engineering consultancy specialising in the design and delivery of low-carbon energy infrastructure. They work across both the public and private sectors, supporting hospitals, universities, residential developments, commercial buildings and large-scale urban projects to decarbonise heat and power systems. Their work plays a key role in supporting the UK’s Net Zero ambitions through innovative, sustainable energy solutions. They are growing at 20% YoY and have a team of 125 MEP Engineers across the UK.
The Role
Our client is seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to provide senior technical input and leadership across major low-carbon energy and power generation projects. This role involves overseeing electrical design quality, contributing to complex technical solutions and supporting the delivery of safe, compliant and efficient power infrastructure schemes aligned with Net Zero objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the production and review of electrical designs, calculations and specifications
- Overseeing power cable calculations, C&I cabling strategies and electrical design outputs
- Ensuring compliance with project requirements, client standards and legislation
- Providing technical input into equipment selection and project risk management
- Supporting and contributing to HAZOP studies
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience delivering electrical designs within power generation, renewable energy or power infrastructure environments
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (degree preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations
- Experience with Amtech design software (advantageous)
- Understanding of VSDs, MCCs and associated control systems (advantageous)
- Full UK manual driving licence
