We are seeking professional, self-motivated, and enthusiastic individuals to join our leadership team as a Duty Manager in our luxury hostel / Boutique Capsule Hotel on the Royal Mile with CODE- The CoURT. As part of our leadership team, you will take responsibility for being the lead on shift, leading and supporting the team, and ensuring excellence across all aspects of operations. You will inspire others, ensure the basics are done brilliantly, and deliver the outstanding guest experience CODE is known for.
About CODE: CODE offers high-quality accommodation through a mix of private double rooms and multi-share Pod bedrooms in a capsule hotel setting. Our Mile site, opened in 2019, has 200+ beds and social areas all designed to the highest standards in a historic setting. Our original site on Rose Street has consistently been one of the top-rated accommodations in Edinburgh for seven years running.
Who You Are: You are the one who makes it happen. As the duty manager, you take charge ensuring everything runs smoothly across reception, coffee service, and food & beverage operations. You guide the team, solve problems on the fly, and keep standards high. When you are on shift, you set the tone and drive the experience. Experience preferred in leading teams and managing shifts to ensure smooth daily operations across multiple service areas, including reception, coffee service, and food & beverage delivery. Proven ability to coordinate staff, maintain high service standards, and respond effectively to dynamic operational needs.

Role and Responsibilities: As a Duty Manager, you will:
- Act as the lead on shift, leading by example and ensuring smooth operations
- Support, motivate, and guide the team to deliver excellence in service and standards
- Take responsibility for health & safety, guest satisfaction, and operational checklists during your shift
- Resolve issues confidently and efficiently, ensuring every guest leaves happy
Front of House:
- Welcome and look after our guests
- Manage check-ins, check-outs, and reservations
- Lead Food & Beverage service (including barista coffee, bar work, food running, and upselling)
- Support and oversee events and guest activities
- Ensure accurate reporting (logbooks, payments, lost property, maintenance requests)
Housekeeping & Building Care:
- Supervise and support the housekeeping team to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness
- Help with linen management, room turnaround, and communal area standards
- Ensure the property is safe, secure, and well maintained
- Report maintenance issues and guest feedback promptly
