We are seeking an experienced IT/Data Knowledge & Document Management Consultant to lead a short, focused engagement (estimated circa 10 days) aimed at improving how IT/Data documentation and knowledge is structured, controlled, and consumed within an enterprise retail organisation. The initial phase will focus on discovery, assessment, and recommendations within one IT discipline. Depending on the outcomes, there is potential for this work to evolve into a wider platform and/or intranet project.
Discovery requirements
- Lead a discovery-led review of current document and knowledge management practices within the IT/Data function.
- Work closely with business and technology teams to understand governance and control needs.
- Assess how Microsoft 365 / SharePoint and/or other tools can support structured, governance-led document management.
- Design a target-state approach for managing policies, standards, and governance content.
- Provide clear, practical recommendations and next steps, with an eye toward scalability and/or a lightweight, working proof of concept demonstrating key capabilities.
Core Skills & Experience
- Strong experience managing IT/Data policies, procedures, and standards in enterprise environments.
- Expertise in IT document lifecycle management, version control, and approval workflows.
- Hands-on experience designing and managing SharePoint Online site architecture and governance.
- Experience working with IT document libraries, metadata, permissions, and document management features.
- Proven experience structuring and organising knowledge, guidance, and learning content.
- Ability to quickly translate requirements into a lightweight, working prototype.
- Experience working on or contributing to intranet or enterprise portal projects.
- A clear, practical/pragmatic approach to managing IT/Data governance documentation and knowledge.
- Recommendations that balance governance requirements with platform capabilities.
- A scalable foundation that can support future development of the platform or intranet.
- Possibly, a working proof of concept that demonstrates immediate value.
