Accounts For Flooring Ltd t/a NUMBERS
Location: Darlington, DL3 0FX (Office-Based)
Hours: 24 hours per week over 3 days (option to increase hours as the practice grows or job share if preferred)
Salary: £33,000 – £40,000 FTE

NUMBERS is a specialist accountancy practice serving the UK flooring industry. We work exclusively within the flooring sector and grow through referral rather than advertising. Many of our clients come to us after receiving poor advice elsewhere, so technical accuracy, compliance integrity and commercial understanding are central to our reputation. We provide bookkeeping, payroll, CIS, VAT and tax support tailored specifically to individuals and businesses within the flooring industry, typically up to £2,000,000 turnover.
The Role
We are seeking a qualified, hands-on Practice Accountant to join our Darlington office. This is a processing-led role with compliance responsibility. You will manage client files from day-to-day bookkeeping through to VAT, CIS and payroll submissions, ensuring technical accuracy and integrity throughout. Over time, and as senior sign-off responsibilities transition within the practice, there is a clear pathway for this role to develop into broader technical oversight. This role requires strong practical accounting capability combined with sound working knowledge of UK corporate and personal tax legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Portfolio Responsibility
- Manage a portfolio of flooring clients
- Act as day-to-day accounting contact
- Maintain fully reconciled, accurate Xero files
- Prepare records to support year-end accounts and corporation tax
- Identify risks, inconsistencies or compliance concerns
