QESH Health and Safety Coordinator – East Kilbride

What you become part of:

 

East Kilbride Operations produce 32 million raw cases of drinks per year across their 4 production lines – 2 glass bottle, 2 PET bottle (plastic). This is the only site in GB that produces our Appletiser products in glass. There will be 220 employees by the end of 2024 site and experience here can lead to excellent career opportunities both in East Kilbride and further afield across other GB sites and Europacific locations. 

 

 

What to expect: 

 

  • Support internal and external audit processes, providing access to policies, risk assessments, procedures and sampling of activity as needed.
  • Conduct health & safety and environmental checks, inspections and equipment monitoring in line with the site’s monitoring plan.
  • Implement and support task-specific H&S risk assessments including COSHH, Fire, DSEAR, ATEX, Noise and Asbestos.
  • Help manage H&S and environmental incidents and investigations, supporting integration of findings into site-wide prevention plans.
  • Proactively use findings from risk assessments and audits to update and improve the preventative H&S plan and drive accident reduction.
  • Coordinate the occupational health surveillance programme and ensure timely safety inductions for new staff.
  • Monitor and feedback on compliance to legal updates through the company legal register.
  • Follow and role-model site safety procedures to support a zero-accident culture for colleagues, contractors, and visitors.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional environmental and safety projects.
  • Embrace team collaboration and adapt flexibly to support wider team, site and career goals. 

 

 

Skills & Essentials: 

 

  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification is essential; NEBOSH General Certificate highly desirable.
  • Environmental qualification is advantageous.
  • Experience in health & safety risk assessments; including COSHH and workplace-specific assessments.
  • Experience in FMCG, ideally food or drink manufacturing, preferred.
  • Familiarity with incident investigation and root cause analysis is beneficial. 

 

 

Knowledge/ Technical skills: 

 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Clear and persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Understanding of manufacturing operations and associated H&S risks.
  • Knowledge of internal auditing and ISO 45001 is advantageous 

 

 

Personal skills: 

 

  • Strong self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interpret and apply safety legislation and company policies.
  • Effective problem-solver with the ability to analyse complex situations and drive solutions.
  • Collaborative team player with flexibility to adapt to change.
