Cobham Health Centre is a well-established GP medical practice in Cobham, near to the town centre, with a reputation for excellent patient-centred care. We are currently looking to recruit a full-time Medical Secretary/Administrator who is an enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible, well-presented individual.
Main duties of the job include:
- Typing letters.
- Responding to tasks from the team.
- Answering the telephone.
- Answering questions and dealing with queries.
- Managing Medical and Insurance Reports.
- Completing administration tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
The post is full time, 37.5 hours per week over 5 days – 8.30am - 5pm (1‑hour unpaid lunch break).

Job responsibilities:
- You must have a methodical approach to the work, and the ability to deal empathically and professionally with our patients and stakeholders.
- Have a friendly and courteous manner.
- Exemplary attendance and time keeping.
- Be capable of working in a busy environment.
- Be a Microsoft Word proficient touch typist – there may be a typing test as part of the recruitment process.
- Understand medical terminology.
- Be familiar with the way the NHS works – desirable.
- Have an awareness of different medical specialists and referral pathways – preferable but not essential.
- Have excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Be receptive to change and have a can‑do approach to work.
- Be able to multi‑task between typing letters, responding to emails, responding to tasks from the team and answering the telephone.
- Be adept at answering questions and dealing with queries.
- Manage Medical and Insurance Reports.
- Complete administration tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
- Work well as part of our team.
- Be confident with computer systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel and online platforms.
Location: Ability to commute/relocate: Cobham KT11 1HT – reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
Experience: Previous experience of working in a medical practice and using EMIS web (a medical computer system) is desirable, but not essential.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
