Job Details
The Quality Control Centre Laboratory Assistant is responsible for conducting a variety of testing procedures to evaluate and monitor Cobb flocks and facilities for avian health and disease freedom. The Quality Control Centre is a small unit of the Quality Assurance department and is responsible for the examination of a range of samples generated by Cobb Europe and its franchise operations.
The team is made up one Laboratory Assistant reporting directly to the Laboratory Team Leader, and the QA Manager. The team is also supported by a QA Associate Production.
Main Responsibilities
- Weekly and daily checks of temperature critical equipment.
- Weekly QC tasks.
- Carry out PCR testing.
- Prepare blood samples for internal or external testing.
- Process salmonella samples.
- Maintain adequate stocks of culture media and reagents.
- General lab housekeeping.
- Support reception through receiving of deliveries and directing visitors.
- Support the wider QA team with creating routine temperature charts.
- Handling a variety of poultry samples such as bloods, swabs, faeces and environmental samples.
- Maintaining documents and records to remain compliant with the ISO 17025 standard.
- Using a range of I.T programs to process and record test results.
About You
- No previous laboratory experience necessary as full training will be provided.
- Previous experience working with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Capable of working with minimum supervision.
- Accurate with a keen eye for detail.

Working hours
The QCC is operational between 8.30 and 5.00 Monday to Friday. This is currently a part-time position; 2 days a week.
