Financial Controller in Ashford, Kent

Youll play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and ensuring robust reporting for a diverse portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly management accounts and deliver accurate financial reporting.

Develop and manage annual budgets and rolling forecasts for 12 years ahead.

Present financial updates to the Board monthly.

Oversee and review the work of two junior team members (remote).

Manage journal postings, accruals, and prepayments.

Reconcile wages to payroll and ensure compliance.

Review and submit VAT returns and maintain intercompany reconciliations.

Ensure group recharges are invoiced correctly across all entities.

Prepare statutory accounts, including one consolidation, and handle corporation tax (CT600) filings.

Liaise with HMRC and explore group relief options.

Maintain loan accounts, interest postings, and the fixed asset register.

Reconcile reports from TaxCalc to Xero and manage bank payments as required.

Profile:

Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.

Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, VAT, and corporation tax.

Proven experience in multi-entity accounting and consolidations.

Advanced skills in Xero and familiarity with TaxCalc (advantageous).

Excellent communication skills for executive-level reporting.

Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and lead a small team remotely.

Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of 20+ entities.

Hybrid working model with flexibility mostly remote with an expectation of 3-4 days on site per month. Although predominantly remote, we do require someone to be based in Kent.
