We are recruiting on behalf of a client for an experienced Interim Accountant to join their finance team for a 6 month fixed-term contract. This role will support the Financial Controller and play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong compliance, and timely delivery of month-end and statutory requirements.

You will take ownership of regional accounting activities, ensuring financial information is recorded accurately and deadlines for reporting and tax submissions are consistently met. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders, along with supporting and mentoring junior members of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax legislation
  • Review and approve weekly payment runs and bank payments
  • Monitor cash balances and produce monthly cashflow forecasts
  • Record salary transactions and ensure statutory payments are made on time
  • Prepare and submit corporate tax, employment tax and VAT returns
  • Lead balance sheet reconciliations and support the month-end close process
  • Assist with audit requests and statutory reporting
  • Support accounts assistants with guidance and training as required
  • Contribute to process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives

The Ideal Candidate

  • Part-qualified ACCA / CIMA ACA (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar senior accounting role
  • Strong tax knowledge (corporate tax, VAT and employment taxes)
  • SAP experience is essential
  • Confident working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • The ideal candidate will be immediately available or available on a short notice period.
