Company Overview
Our client is a highly regarded UK-based mid-market real estate debt fund, known for its deep market expertise, disciplined underwriting, and robust lending capabilities. Having firmly established their presence in the UK, the firm is now scaling up their European operations, with a dedicated team already embedded across core European lending markets and backing from a Top-tier Investor. To complement this expansion, they are now seeking a seasoned Senior Capital Raiser to lead fundraising efforts across continental Europe.
Role Overview
As a Senior Capital Raiser, you will be responsible for sourcing, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with institutional investors across Europe. You will work alongside the firm's UK capital raising lead to deliver a coordinated pan-European fundraising strategy aligned with the fund’s growth ambitions.
The successful candidate will possess a strong track record in capital raising or institutional sales, with particular expertise in real estate private markets or listed equity. You will have established relationships within European pension funds, specialty insurers, and other institutional capital pools.
Key Responsibilities
- Capital Sourcing & Investor Development: Develop and execute a capital raising strategy tailored to non-UK institutional investors. Leverage existing relationships and cultivate new ones, focusing on pension funds (~70% of the investor base), specialty insurers (~20%), and other institutional sources (~10%).
- Investor Relations: Serve as a primary point of contact for European investors, providing consistent and compelling communication around fund performance, pipeline, and strategy. Organize and lead investor roadshows, meetings, and presentations across the region.
- Collaboration & Internal Coordination: Work closely with the UK capital raising counterpart to ensure strategic alignment and knowledge-sharing. Partner with internal stakeholders across the investment, legal, and marketing teams to ensure materials, responses, and presentations are tailored to a European audience.
- Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of European investor trends, regulatory considerations, and capital flows to inform strategic decision-making.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in capital raising, institutional sales, distribution or investor relations. Direct experience within real estate private markets and/or listed equity markets. A proven track record of raising capital from European institutional investors.
- Background: Likely to come from an institutional asset management or real estate investment management environment. Deep knowledge of the European institutional landscape, particularly across pensions and insurance groups.
- Skills & Attributes: Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills. Strong presentation and communication abilities, both written and verbal. Strategic thinker with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset. European languages are beneficial (but not essential).
