About the Role

Location: London/Hybrid

Salary: £50,000

Contract: 12-Month Fixed Term

Cobalt are working with a highly regarded property company to source a Service Charge Accountant to join their commercial property management team on a 12-month fixed term contract. The role involves managing the preparation, reconciliation, and reporting of service charge accounts across a portfolio of high-profile commercial assets. This is a hands‑on role within a fast-paced environment, offering exposure to large office and retail developments while working closely with property and asset managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and finalise service charge accounts in line with lease terms and best practice.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting for multi‑let commercial properties.
  • Reconcile expenditure, analyse variances, and provide clear reporting to stakeholders.
  • Liaise with Property Managers, Facilities teams, and auditors to ensure accurate year‑end delivery.
  • Support improvements to processes, systems, and reporting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and RICS Service Charge Code.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Solid experience in service charge accounting within commercial property.
  • Knowledge of service charge best practice and statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency with property management/accounting systems (QUBE, Yardi, or similar).
  • Strong technical accounting and reconciliation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Effective communicator, able to work confidently with stakeholders and occupiers.
