We are seeking a talented and proactive Junior Architect to join our growing team, focusing on small-scale residential projects including extensions, loft conversions, refurbishments, and internal alterations. The ideal candidate will be confident managing the full planning process, from early-stage design and drawings through to planning submission and approval. This role offers hands-on project ownership, creative flexibility, and the opportunity to develop technical and management skills within a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end planning process, including preparing design proposals, producing planning drawings, coordinating consultants, and managing submissions.
- Develop high-quality design concepts, bringing creative flair and strong visual communication skills to each project.
- Produce accurate and comprehensive technical drawings for planning and small-scale construction packages.
- Project manage small residential projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and expectations are met.
- Conduct on-site surveys, prepare feasibility assessments, and support client discussions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to deliver smooth project progression.
- Stay up to date with relevant planning policy, building regulations, and local authority requirements.
Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years' experience in an architectural role, ideally within the residential sector.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Suite).
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system and residential design principles.
- Excellent technical detailing and drawing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple small projects simultaneously.
- A proactive mindset with strong communication and organisational skills.
- Demonstrated design flair with a high standard of presentation work.
- Experience working independently as well as within a team.
