A growing environmental consultancy is looking to appoint an Ecologist to join its collaborative team. You’ll support a diverse portfolio of projects across infrastructure, utilities and development sectors, working alongside ecological and arboricultural specialists. The Role
- Involved in a mix of fieldwork, reporting and project delivery, taking responsibility for small to medium-sized projects.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking protected species and habitat surveys
- Delivering UKHab surveys and Biodiversity Net Gain assessments
- Acting as Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) on site
- Managing smaller projects and supporting wider project delivery
- Preparing high-quality technical reports and desk studies
- Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and planning conditions
- Supporting tender submissions and project proposals
- Using GIS tools to produce habitat mapping and data analysis
About You
- Degree in Ecology or a related environmental discipline
- Minimum 2+ years’ consultancy or relevant experience
- Holder of at least one protected species licence (e.g. bat or dormouse desirable)
- Working towards or holding CIEEM membership
- Strong understanding of ecological survey methods, legislation and BNG
- Experience delivering surveys, reports and site-based work (ECoW)
- Competent in GIS tools (e.g. QGIS)
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Desirable Experience
- Experience working on infrastructure projects (e.g. highways or rail)
- Familiarity with planning processes
- Experience liaising with clients and stakeholders
- Knowledge of digital data collection tools
