About the Role
The organisation
Our client is an established UK property consultancy working across complex, high-value assets. The business has ambitious growth plans under its current leadership and is investing in a Finance function that is increasingly visible across the organisation.
Rather than operating solely as a back-office function, Finance works closely with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders. This makes the Credit Controller & Accounts Assistant position particularly suited to someone who enjoys building relationships alongside working with financial information.
The team has a sociable culture with regular events and offers:
- Study support.
- An annual bonus, paid at the end of the financial year.
- Pension contributions matched up to approximately 6.5%.
- Private medical insurance.
- Hybrid working, with a minimum of three days per week in the London office.
The role/responsibilities
Reporting to the Credit Control Manager, the Credit Controller & Accounts Assistant will support cash collection while gaining exposure to other areas of the Finance function. This provides an opportunity to develop a broader finance skill set rather than focusing exclusively on credit control.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Chasing overdue debts by telephone and email while maintaining positive client relationships.
- Allocating cash receipts accurately and resolving suspense items.
- Managing the accounts receivable inbox and supporting client refunds.
- Working with fee earners, billing teams and other colleagues to resolve invoice queries and disputes.
- Supporting monthly client statement runs and maintaining accurate debtor information.
- Updating financial information and client records within NetSuite.
- Supporting bank reconciliations and other monthly Finance tasks.
- Providing additional accounts support across the Finance team when required.
The Credit Controller & Accounts Assistant will have regular contact with people across the organisation, so this is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys the relationship-building side of Finance as much as the numbers.
The skills needed/requirements
We are looking for someone at an early stage of their finance career who can demonstrate:
- A working knowledge of credit control, accounts assistance or a related finance function.
- Experience allocating cash receipts or working with sales and purchase ledgers.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail and an organised approach to managing competing priorities.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft applications.
- Reliability and a commitment to completing work accurately.
- Experience using accounting systems, with NetSuite knowledge particularly advantageous.
- Reconciliation experience, where possible.
Experience within property or professional services would be useful but is not essential, and candidates from other sectors are encouraged to apply.
This Credit Controller & Accounts Assistant opportunity would suit someone looking to build their finance career within a growing organisation while gaining exposure beyond traditional credit control.
