Summary
Cobalt are working with a well-established real estate business to appoint a Tax Manager into a hands-on, operational role supporting UK-based activities. This position sits at the centre of the business's tax compliance and reporting obligations, working closely with internal teams involved in real estate development and asset management. The role combines direct responsibility for UK tax filings with coordination across external accountants and advisors, making it a good fit for someone who enjoys ownership, variety, and stakeholder interaction.
The role
You will take responsibility for UK tax compliance across a portfolio of internal entities and one external client, with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and effective coordination. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and submitting UK corporation tax and partnership tax returns
- Managing ongoing compliance obligations including VAT, SDLT, and CIS
- Reviewing tax computations, capital allowance reports, and supporting documentation
- Maintaining the tax compliance calendar and ensuring all deadlines are met
- Acting as the main point of contact with HMRC on submissions, disclosures, and enquiries
- Liaising closely with external accountants and tax advisors
- Monitoring advisor performance and coordinating the implementation of tax advice
- Supporting tax audits, enquiries, and information requests
- Keeping up to date with changes in UK tax legislation and communicating impacts internally
- Providing tax support linked to real estate development and asset management activities
About you
- Experience preparing UK corporation tax and partnership tax returns
- Strong working knowledge of UK tax legislation and HMRC processes
- Exposure to capital allowances, SDLT, VAT, and CIS
- Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CTA is preferred
- Confident communicator, comfortable working with external advisors and internal stakeholders
- Well organised, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple deadlines
- Proactive approach and comfortable taking ownership of your work
