Contract Type: Permanent. Full time 34.5hpw (part time - minimum 23hrs per week)

About Cobalt: Cobalt is an innovative and dynamic medical imaging charity delivering diagnostic imaging services across the country through dedicated imaging centres in Cheltenham and Birmingham and a fleet of mobile CT and MRI scanners. Scanning over 160,000 patients each year, the charity invests in the very latest imaging technology to support the NHS. Cobalt Health works in partnership with the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust.

The job: You will be part of our team of clinical imaging assistants working closely with radiographers, consultant radiologists and surgeons and other healthcare professionals. The role is busy, varied and rewarding. Your day‑to‑day duties will include:

  • Preparing patients for examination and accompanying patients to and from scanner rooms
  • Providing reassurance to patients
  • Carrying out patient safety screening checks
  • Making sure the working environment is clean and hygienic
  • Helping to maintain equipment and reporting any faults
  • Assisting radiographers and radiologists with procedures
  • Clerical tasks such as data input, image transfer, ordering stock of consumable items

Shifts will involve working compressed shifts, over a 7‑day week by rota, with a 30‑minute unpaid break. Enhancements apply to weekend and bank holiday working. Part time – minimum of 23hpw (2 x 11.5hr shifts over a 7‑day week will be considered).

  • Sound demonstrable educational background and qualifications
  • Good IT skills
  • Experience of working or volunteering in a public service sector
  • Experience of working or volunteering within a healthcare setting would be beneficial
  • Commitment to providing safe, caring and accessible care to patients
  • Enjoyment of being part of a highly professional and diverse team
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change in a fast‑paced working environment
  • Good understanding of health and safety, patient confidentiality, discretion and trustworthiness
  • Physical dexterity, coordination and sensory skills essential in supporting radiographers with positioning patients for their scan
