To lead and manage the site Maintenance Team, comprising mechanical, electrical and multi-skilled technicians, in delivering safe, compliant and cost-effective preventative and reactive maintenance across all site plant and equipment. The role is central to maximising plant availability and reliability, ensuring statutory compliance, and managing the maintenance budget. Roles & Responsibilities:
- Manage, coach and develop the Maintenance Team, including performance reviews and training plans.
- Maintain a clear understanding of plant condition and performance, responding promptly and effectively to breakdowns and unplanned stoppages.
- Source and manage external contractors were required, selecting suppliers based on competence, safety performance, cost and availability. Ensure all contractors are approved and inducted and work under appropriate RAMS and permit controls.
- Plan, scope, resource and deliver planned outages on time and within budget, including contractor coordination and post-outage review.
- Provide technical support and guidance to both the Operations and Maintenance teams.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure maximum plant availability.
- All other duties which reasonably fall within the capability of the Maintenance Manager where directed or requested by the Plant Manager.
- Ensure site remains compliant to required regulations (PSSR, LOLER, COSSH).
- Manage the maintenance budget, both operational and capital, including cost control and forecasting.
- Manage critical spares and stores, ensuring appropriate stock levels for critical plant.
- Lead root cause analysis of significant failures and drive continuous improvement in plant reliability.
- Ensure the CMMS is accurately maintained, including work orders, asset history and PPM schedules.
- Produce and review risk assessments and method statements for maintenance activities.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead by example in health and safety, ensuring full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work regulations and WOL site safety rules.
- Participate in the site on-call rota (currently 1 week in 4).
- Ensure all members of the Maintenance Team follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Observe, be familiar with and comply with all company policies.
- Ensure all condition-based maintenance (CBM) activities are completed in line with Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) schedules.
- Achieve planned preventative maintenance (PPM) compliance targets and contribute to the site availability target of 90%, with performance monitored through KPIs such as PPM compliance.
- Produce a monthly departmental performance report, covering KPIs, costs, safety and outage progress, by close of business on the fifth working day of the following month.
- Ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained, keeping all work areas clean, tidy and safe.
