The key aims of this role are to deliver core engineering resource to the business and external clients. To lead the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions for our internal and external clients. To work on cutting-edge projects in the renewable energy and power sectors, contributing to the growth and advancement of Cobalt Energy.

You will line manage and mentor junior team members and manage project or design teams on diverse assignments. To assist in developing and growing the mechanical engineering team and competence within all sectors of the company. To carry out primary design of industrial mechanical systems and be able to specify enquiries for detailed design and construction for internal and external clients. To assist the development of all matters relating to mechanical safety across the business. To develop and manage the mechanical engineering activities of major and minor projects to ensure that they are delivered safely, accurately and on time.

Understand customer's needs and requirements in developing new work streams. Ensure that all installations and applications are in line with customer needs and safety standards. Collaborate with other engineers and partners engaged in design and effectively apply these designs. Perform quality and performance analysis on new mechanical works.

Experience/Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum of a BEng Degree in mechanical engineering, preferably chartered with a recognised institute (working towards chartership will be acceptable).
  • Proven experience as an industrial engineer with at least 10 years practical experience.
  • Experience in both mechanical design and/or fabrication for both structural steel and process pipework.
  • A thorough understanding of ASME B31.3 and a working understanding of the various manufacturing UK and global standards relating to the fabrication of Pressure Systems, Lifting Equipment, Storage Tanks, Structural Steelwork and Process Pipework.
  • A working understanding of P&IDs.
  • A working understanding of structural inspection.
  • Experience working in a project environment.
  • Experience leading teams of technical professionals.
  • Excellent knowledge of the principles of mechanical engineering.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering codes and safety standards.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and good attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills with MS products essential.
  • Strong computer literacy with the ability to use CAD.

Role Requirements:

  • Based remotely (at home) with UK project-based assignment work as required.
  • Potentially frequent periods of travel for project and site work.
  • Occasional overseas travel for meetings, site visits and project work.
  • Experience of working in multi-national environments would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Excellent personal and interpersonal skills such as organisation, communication and attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to and work from site facilities and offices across the UK.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Up to £75,000.00 with a £4,000.00 Car Allowance

Location: Home Based - Required to travel to sites
